DJ Hall – NEWS! NEWS! NEWS!
Posted: 16th August 2021

The office bearers of Kiltearn Community Council, as Trustees of the Victoria Diamond Jubilee Hall, are delighted to announce that, as of Monday 16th August, the transfer of ownership and Trusteeship of the Hall has now transferred to Evanton Community Trust who will act as custodians on behalf of the people of the Parish of Kiltearn. The reason for the transfer is that, as a community council, Kiltearn Community Council is not set up to own community assets nor access external funding. As a registered charity, Evanton Community Trust can access external funding to carry out necessary repairs and upgrades to the much-loved Victoria Diamond Jubilee Hall.
Kiltearn Community Council Chair, Cairine MacIver said, “We are pleased that the Hall is now in the ownership of a Trust who have a record of working with the community and look forward to the Hall once again becoming a focus for the Community. At this point I wish to publicly thank all the Members of the Community Council, past and present, and the wider community for all the work they had undertaken to protect the Hall for the Village and wish the Trust every success for the future.”
Evanton Community Trust Chair, Mandy Macleman said “We are delighted to take on the custodianship of this much-loved building on behalf of the community and the residents of the Parish of Kiltearn. Over the next few years, we aim to secure funding to update and renovate the hall to make it a building that is fit to serve the community of Evanton for the next 25 years! We will be consulting widely with the community over the coming months to find out what you want to see available in the hall. There is already a Hall Management Group in place, who will be running the hall on a daily basis; this group is made up of representatives from hall user groups, Kiltearn Community Council, Evanton Community Trust and members of the community. We have applied for funding to employ a Community Development Officer for the village who will carry out a consultation which will direct the upgrading and future development of the hall, they will also be available to support other groups in the village to progress projects and access funding.
We are planning a free Welcome Back! event for all age groups on Saturday, October 2nd – so SAVE THE DATE! More info coming soon! “
The hall is available for community bookings immediately. We are in the process of setting up an online booking system but for now please send booking enquiries by direct message to hall Facebook page @DJHEvanton

DJ Hall – Update October
Posted: 4th Oct 2020

Since March the hall has been closed due to COVID 19 restrictions. The hall
has still been doing its bit locally by providing We Are Evanton a base for
supporting the village during this pandemic. There is still work going behind
the scenes to get the hall ready for when the hall can re-open.
The community council is currently having hall maintenance carried out
while the hall is closed. As soon as covid 19 restrictions lift by the Scottish
Government and guidance is issued the hall will re-open with social distancing
measures in place. This has been delayed due to the recent new restrictions
that came in force on 23rd of September 2020.

The DJ Hall will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so. We will keep you updated. If you want more information please contact John.

ECT October 2019 Update – – October 2019
The agreement between the Kiltearn Community Council (KCC) and the Evanton Community Trust (ECT), to transfer ownership of the Diamond Jubilee Hall, is now entering its final stage. A Hall Management Group, consisting of two members of KCC, two members of ECT, representatives of regular hall user groups and other members of the community, has already been set up to look at ways to improve and develop the hall once ownership is transferred. The first step will be to source funding to employ a development officer who will be tasked with consulting with the whole community to explore what you would like to see taking place not just in the hall but in the village as well. We already have lots of ideas from the public meeting held earlier this year, but we want to hear from everyone! We also have plans to upgrade the building – a recent building survey recommended new windows, a new kitchen, new toilet facilities and a new heating system. We will be actively looking for funding to carry out this work. We recently posted on our Facebook page to find out if there was interest in the village in starting a community market. The response was very positive. Due to other similar events happening before Christmas, we have decided to defer progressing this until after New Year. Watch this space.
